Our new insurance features and pricing changes

What’s changing

SimplePractice has updated the insurance experience for customers leading to significant improvements in our core insurance offering. Insurance Essentials is our reimagined insurance experience, bringing together the core tools every practice needs, like a centralized Billing Hub and customizable claim rules, to make managing insurance faster and more efficient. That’s why, starting today, it’s part of every SimplePractice plan, so every customer, regardless of subscription tier, can handle insurance with confidence.

We are also introducing Insurance Navigator, an add-on to Insurance Essentials that combines smart billing tools with direct phone access to Insurance Specialists. Whether you're setting up a payer, interpreting a rejected claim, or reconciling payments, get personalized guidance to spend less time on troubleshooting and move forward with confidence.

These changes come with new pricing for insurance claims and coverage checks that go into effect on October 1st. SimplePractice is moving away from plan-specific insurance capabilities, and Insurance Essentials will now be part of all subscription plans. The pricing changes are detailed below, along with information about what is included in both Insurance Essentials and Insurance Navigator.

Beginning October 1, 2026

The price per claim will be changing to $0.39/claim across all subscription plans, and free claims will no longer be included for Essential and Plus customers.
Volume-based pricing for claims remains available and details can be found here.
The price of Mental Health Coverage Checks will be $0.15/check across all subscription plans. Coverage checks will continue to be included through March 31, 2027 for current Plus customers who remain in the Plus plan, and will cost $0.15/check beginning April 1, 2027.
Customers who do not submit claims or run coverage checks through SimplePractice will not be impacted, and will see no change in their subscription price.

Insurance Navigator

Insurance Navigator is an insurance add-on for practices who want to confidently navigate even the most complex insurance workflows with smart billing tools plus direct access to experienced Insurance Specialists. It provides personalized guidance for every step of the insurance process. Insurance Navigator will be available starting October 1st.

Insurance Navigator includes everything in Insurance Essentials, and:

Insurance Navigator can be added on to any SimplePractice subscription plan, and all practices are eligible for a 30 day trial at no additional cost. Sign up for a trial here.
Customers who choose to add Insurance Navigator will pay $1.79/claim.
Insurance Navigator includes proactive Mental Health Coverage Checks and Verification of Benefits, which includes estimated client responsibility, run automatically at no additional cost.
Practices may downgrade at any time and will go back to using Insurance Essentials at the end of their current billing cycle.
Customers who do not submit claims or run coverage checks will not be impacted, and will see no change in their subscription price.
