Below you can find responses to any questions Jonathan directly said would be followed up on during February's Let's Talk With Jonathan Livestream.

February’s Q&A responses

Question: Will there ever be a point where you can attach two documents to one session? For example, a medication management note and a psychotherapy note for the same session?

Response: Both a progress note and a psychotherapy note can be added to the same appointment. Progress notes are available to all customers, while psychotherapy notes are available based on specialty.

Question: Will there be an option soon to make requesting Identification Cards mandatory when clients are completing documents?

Response: Currently there is no way to upload an identification card. However, you can require the upload of an insurance card.

Question: Is it possible to split a session charge to at least two debit/credit cards?

Response: Partial payments can be added to the same invoice, which allows a session charge to be paid using multiple debit or credit cards.

Question: Will there ever be a way that secondary claims are created automatically? At this point, we have to keep a manual list, and go to each patient one by one to create and submit those secondary claims.

Request: Is it possible to have a timer within the Telehealth video that the client can see as well? It would help with maintaining timely appt times.

Request: I work for a multidisciplinary practice! Our clients can have multiple clinicians that they work with but can only message whoever is set as the "Primary Clinician" rather than all assigned clinicians. Is this something that could be updated/changed?

Request: Will there ever be a feature to check a client in for their appointment so providers know when they are here?

Request: As a group practice with both clinicians and non-clinical staff, it would be great to have "smart" features in the SP set-up. For example, you get an error message if the modifier is entered as HO for a doctoral level provider.

Request: Any plans to integrate an HR/Payroll system? As a rapidly growing group practice this is a HUGE component of if we will be able to work with SP long term or seek another EHR.

Request: Can we please have the ability to have tables within notes/evals/template builders? This is a critical piece that is missing, as this is how standardized assessments are reported for OT, PT, SLPs.

Request: Are there any plans for expansion of resources of interest to functional medicine practitioners; for example, form builders for the kind of large, elaborate questionnaires that we use?

Request: Telehealth: Would love the ability to leave a message for a client waiting for a provider if the provider is running late, or a happy birthday note, when they sign in, etc.

Request: The ability to 'Mute' a client would be very helpful in virtual group therapy sessions.

Request: The current Standard Questionnaire is lacking for getting relevant information from parents for their children. Especially so they can speak to things they may not want to discuss in front of their children during the assessment session.

Request: Has SP considered the ability for group practices to pause a membership for a team member/clinician for a temporary period of time? For example, when they go out on parental leave or FMLA. Maintaining their membership can be very costly.

Request: I would appreciate a way to pause or delay auto-pay. Sometimes our clients tell us that they cannot make their payment now, but they could in a couple of days. Right now, we have to turn off autopay and manually track all this. Is this something that you guys are working on implementing?

Request: Will there be a way to see a list of the upcoming appointments with details to allow for practice management ease? Both exportable reports and views on the schedule.

Request: Does a function exist that when a parent/patient uploads an insurance card with documents that it carries over into insurance screen versus having to again enter under additional tab and self enter?

Request: Is there anything in the works that would allow users to see the patient's DOB on every screen? It is very frustrating to be in the Billing and Insurance screen & having to go back to the profile page to see the DOB.

Request: Is there a way to disable certain insurance plans from being selected by the client? For example, we work with Partnership Health Plan, but bill Carelon/Beacon. The client’s cards say Partnership Health Plan so that is what they automatically select and we have to go in every week and update the new client accounts to make sure we are billing the right insurance plan.

Request: We have multiple departments with separate waitlists and different intake coordinators per department. Will there ever be a way to separate inquiries via the contact form by department? Could clients be added to multiple waitlists at once?

Request: When you are adding a clinician to SP once hired, it auto adds them to all billing codes, but this doesn’t work for multidisciplinary clinics as it takes a considerable amount of time for us to uncheck them from the codes they aren't eligible to bill. Would SimplePractice ever consider us having to check what they should be added to when adding them in the system?
